vzaar is a video hosting service for businesses. It provides an online app where customers can manage their video content and take advantage of features such as customisation, security, video SEO, advertising and more.
The existing interface wasn't adequately supporting customers with large numbers of videos. The aim of this project was to improve the existing label system for managing video content. A new scalable and flexible UI supported by the implementation of a new sass framework.
I worked closely to a PM and a developer. Input from the sales, marketing and support teams provided an essential collaborative environment.
As part of my mentorship at UXPA, I was fortunate in having the valuable support of my UX mentor, Jonathan Culling.
I led ideation, data analysis, stakeholders interviews, prototyping, user testing, design and front-end implementation.
By looking at support tickets, stakeholders interviews and data analysis we realised that many of the queries came from the need to make video settings changes en masse and be able to organise them in hierarchical manner. Once we had a draft of the Functional Spec ready, I created some sketches that allowed us to discuss our ideas faster.
I tested the prototypes with current clients. I asked them to comment on a paper prototype of the new Video Management section. For the remote validation we had a digital version of this paper prototype built on an InVision app .
The new video management functionality fitted the participants’ expectations and seemed logical to them. They could see themselves using the new functionality and believed it would improve their workflow.
Thanks to the research we made a cleaner and easy to use interface.
We also identified patterns on how users categorised their video content. This brought us some great insights for future improvements by using categories.
The Video Management system is live and considered one of the most powerful platform’s feature.
